DD-Frame Introduction

The Intelligent Protection Device (IPD) is a monitoring unit integrated with a CBI DD-Frame circuit breaker. The IPD measures current and circuit breaker status. It transmits information via an RS-485 serial bus, enabling the host system to monitor current usage and ON/OFF/trip status. The unit features a proactive health monitor, enabling condition-based maintenance through operation counts (load, no-load, overload, and operating environment) stored in memory. Each device has a unique and traceable identity through the reading of manufacturing information. Visible tri-color LEDs on the top and bottom are configurable to display various statuses.
The RMU circuit breaker current range is 3A to 100A for single pole, up to 200A for double pole, and up to 300A for triple pole. The circuit breaker terminals are hot-swappable plug-in terminals, connecting to a busbar base that incorporates a PCB with data connectors. The RMU module uses a simple resistance method to automatically identify its position on the bus. The circuit breaker base is backward compatible with CBI DD-FRAME circuit breakers with auxiliary alarm switches, making the base compatible with both intelligent and standard circuit breakers.
